Kendall Lee: Virtuoso guitar player Kendall Lee heard the Beatles when he was 7 and immediately got a guitar and began to play by ear with friends. "When I heard Paul McCartney scream, I said 'I want to do that'", he says grinning his trademark mega-watt smile. By the time he was in high school Kendall was a featured musician in local bands as well as a football star at Corvallis ( Oregon ) High School. From 1977-79, Kendall studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston . A broken wrist prevented him from finishing his third year, but it didn't stop him from continuing music. Eventually his 5-piece band Main Sail caught the attention of the music director for vocalist Linda Carter, better known as Superwoman, who offered them a job as her back-up band. From 1982-88, Lee toured the world with the Linda Carter band, performing in all the casino towns and opening for such stars as Rich Little, George Burns, the Smothers Brothers, and Arsenio Hall. He performed on the Johnny Carson show a couple of times, and played for Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos, as well as for Prince Rainier in Monte Carlo . "We got to live our dream," he says. By 1988, however, Kendall had had enough of the big time, with its erratic work schedule and endless travel. He decided to return to Corvallis , Oregon where he hooked up with musician friends in the popular local band Fat Chance. When that band dissolved after several years, he accepted an invitation to play guitar with Neal Gladstone & Co. " Kendall 's ability to play in such a variety of styles helps me create the sound I'm going for in each song," says Neal. "He's tasty, he's professional, and he's one of the most talented guys I've ever played with." |
